FRIDAY'S FABULOUS STAMP SET - TROPICAL PARTY

Today's featured stamp set is Tropical Party which is found in the Summer Mini on page 26.  Did you know that it is the matching stamp set for the Island Oasis Designer Series Paper?  It has gorgeous summery colors of Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Rose Red and Old Olive.  Together they create a winning combination for all your summer projects as well as when you want to scrapbook those Tropical vacations.

Here is the first card I made with this set:

BRAYERED BACKGROUND

To create the background I brayered Naturals White cardstock with a rainbow pad of Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose.  I then stamped the piece with the palm branch stamp from the set in Basic Gray ink.  I then mounted it on the Basic Gray cardstock to make the images pop and for a nice contrast for the background.  I wrapped another piece of Basic Gray cardstock around both pieces and layered 2 ribbons across the moddle of the Gray.  One was the 5/8" Regal Rose Grosgrain and the other was the Melon Mambo 1/2" Polka-Dot Grosgrain ribbon.  I popped a Pretty in Pink button on top of this and tied another small piece of the Mambo ribbon below it in a double knot.  Last but not least I stamped the coconut image in Basic Gray and colored it with markers, punched it out with the Large Tag punch and layered it on the Melon Mambo card stock.  I  adhered it to the ribbon with a Mini glue dot.

For my second act.... LOL:

BRAYERED RESIST

For the main focal point I stamped the large and small flowers from the set all over the piece of Glossy White cardstock, using Versamark ink.  I then coverend the images with Clear Embossing powder and heat set them.

Tip:  For great results when you are doing resisit techniques first use the embossing buddy to wipe all over the Glossy cardstock.  Also make sure you don't have hand cream or oils on your hands as the embossing powder will stick to your finger prints!

After heat setting I then brayered the card with the same colors of ink as in the previous card.  On the glossy card stock the inks tend to look brighter and more dynamic , rather than the softer effect I acheived on the  Naturals card stock.  I re-inked my brayer several times so that I got even coverage and the bold look that I wanted.  The more ink you apply the more your resist images will stand out in comparison.  Once the ink was brayered in place I wiped the images with a soft cotten ball to remove any ink that may have been left on them.

The focal piece was layered on Soft Suede and Pretty in Pink cardstock which I embossed in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Have I mentioned that I love that folder!  The texture you acheive with it is simply divine!  For embellishments I added the Soft Suede ribbon, and bow as well as the Close to Cocoa buttons.  Birthday Wishes was stamped using Soft Suede Classic Ink.

I sure hope you will try these simply and easy brayer techniques at home.  Imagine the color possiblilities with our fantastic color palette!!

Thanks again for dropping by!  Don't forget that retiring accessories are selling out quickly so if you need anything from the  LAST CHANCE lists contact me today!

COLOR CHALLENGE FOR LATE NIGHT STAMPERS

This is another card that I whipped up for the Late Night Stampers Color Challenge of Night of Navy, So Saffron and Bordering Blue. I created a graduation card using the Go, Graduate stamp set from the Summer Mini catalogue.  This particular image cracks me up!  You can almost imagine the personalities that would go along with each of the shoes under the gowns!  Very fun and whimsical for sure!

COLOR CHALLENGE GRAD CARD

The designer paper is from the Build a Bear set called "Pawsitively Prints which has a delightful So Saffron argyle with just a hint of Night of Navy in it.  The images were stamped with Night of Navy ink and then colored using a Blender Pen a little Night of Navy ink from the ink case.  To give the gowns a little dimension I stamped them twice, coloring the sencond image and then cutting out each little gown and applying it to the original image.  For embellishments I used So Saffron brads, and Night of Navy and Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain bows.  All I have to do now is find a special grad to give this card to.

Thanks again for dropping by!

EASY AND DEMONSTRATABLE CARD CHALLENGE FROM LNS

Brads and Eyelets are this week's requirement for the ED #11 Challenge over at Late Night Stampers.  Here's what I came up with"

LNS ED BRAD CHALLENGE

This simple little card was made using the Blissful Bride Stamp Set from the Summer Mini Catalogue.  This stamp set has such simplicity in it's clean open line design.  Makes it perfect for adding accents and coloring.  I used Bermuda Bay, soon to be retired, Whisper White and So Saffron for my choice of colors.  Rhinestone brads add just the right amount of glitz for this wedding card.

LATE NIGHT STAMPERS BOY CHALLENGE

This week's challenge at Late Night Stampers is to create a "Boy Card".  Here's a simple one that I came up with:

LNS FOR THE BOYS

This was made with a color palette of retiring colors, Brilliant Blue and Apricot Appeal.  It is always a challenge for my mind to get around the world of little boys as I grew up with one sisiter only and had 2 daughters and have 1 grand- daughter.  The closest I've come to little boys was my nephew who loved anything to do with machinery and equipment when he was little.  So I decided to go with the rocket ship!  Maybe just be cause I'm a bit of space cadet myself!  LOL

R & R CHALLENGE

<

For the easy and demonstratable card on Late Night Stampers this week we have to come up with projects that have elements that begin with "R" on them.  I decided to choose Rub Ons and Rick Rack as my criteria and have made 2 different cards using them.  Here's the first card I made:

ED R & R

This was a very simple 5 minute or less card.  I used papers from the Sweet Pea paper pad and I used Pumpkin Pie Card Stock.  For Embellishments I used the Pumpkin Pie Rick Rack ribbon which I recently purchased from the Clearance Rack and Chocolate Chip buttons from the Latte collection.

For the second card I went with a completely different color palette of Pretty in Pink, and Eggplant Envy with White rub ons.

ED 10 RUB-ONS AND RICK RACK

Again the houndstooth paper is from the Sweet Pea Collection and I also added some Rhinestones, with the Rub Ons and Rick Rack!  3 R's is better than 2!  LOL  This was such a simple card.  The little flowers on the bottom of the big flower were colored with a Pink souffle pen which give it an embossed look.  Another 3-4 minute card.  It's my favorite of the two.  What's yours???  Leave a comment and let me know!

Hope you have an R & R day and play along at Late Night Stampers!
