LATE NIGHT STAMPERS THEME OF THE WEEK - MOTHER'S DAY CARDS

Here is a few Mother's Day cards that I created with the Garden from the Heart Stamp Set.  I love this set becuase it is very easy to color and use different mediums on.

The image was stamped with Soft Suede and then colored with markers.  The lay ering and ripping plus a little sponging softens the look for sure.  The designer paper came for the Patterns 3 hostsess pack of papers.

The second card has a vintage collage look and I combined the Garden from the Heart stamp set with the Vintage Voge stamp set.  Once again sponging was used to softne the final look of the project.

MOJO MONDAY #134

Here is the Mojo Monday Sketch of this week:

I decided to tackle 2 challenges at once so my card uses the sketch from Mojo Monday but it also meets the perameters of today's challenge on my Sweet Pea Online Extravaganza designed by Kristen Conant.

For the Sweet Pea challenge of the day you had to create a card that:

1. Used only the Color Palette of the Sweet Pea Paper Pad

2. Used Stampin' Up! punches

3. Only had a Greeting stamp on it.

Here's what I came up with for my card:

Cardstock: Taken with Teal, So Saffron, Whisper WHite
Designer Paper: Sweet Pea # 45, 46 and 6
Embellishments: Whisper White Satin Ribbon, So Saffron Brads
Punches: Eyelet Border, 5-Petal Flower

I'm sorry to see Taken with Teal retire in a few months so guess I'm getting my fill of it these days!  LOL 

 

WINNER OF THE CANADIAN FLAG CHALLENGE #66 FOR LNS

Thanks to everyone that had a peek or particpated in my Canadian Flag Challenge last Monday!  Here is the card I created which also doubles as Challenge #66 this week at Late Night Stampers!

Love all the answers I received, you gals really did your homework!  Here is a little Trivia to add to the fabulous answers I received.

1.  Canada is called the Dominion of Canada because when the fathers of Confederation formed our great nation in 1867 their prayer was that God would have dominion from sea to sea.   A verse in Revelation of the bible.

2.  A Maple Leaf was chosen for all the reasons that were given in the great answers but also because the Maple Leaf is a sign of peace and healing.  They wanted our country to be portrayed as a peaceful and friendly nation that would bring healing to all the nations of the world.

LNS MIDWEEK CHALLENGE - ED #4

Here is my sample for the second challenge of the week, that requires a card that is EASY and DEMONSTRATABLE!  Part of the challenge also was to use any of the colors that are going to be retired.  To view the full list of retiring colors simply click on the link below:

I decided to use Taken With Teal which is one of my favourite retiring colors.  Such an easy card to complete.  The mat consists of Bridal Paper which has been punched on both sides with the Scallop Trim Punch.  The friend image and the butterfly image were both stamped on Whisper White with Take with Teal Classic Ink.  I then did a little coloring with a So Saffron Marker.  Images were matted on 1-3/4 and 2" Circles.  Then just to add a little more yellow, I tied the So Saffron grosgrain ribbon through the Horizontal slot.

SKETCH CHALLENGE #65 FOR LATE NIGHT STAMPERS

This is another version of Monday's sketch for this week.  Oh the joys of losing your mind....LOL I made a different card in the beginning, never left my stamping room and do you think I can find it now???  It's in my safe place!  LOL  Whereeve that is???  So after I lost the first card here's the second I came up with,  personally I liked the first one better!  LOL

CANADIAN FLAG CHALLENGE FROM LATE NIGHT STAMPERS

One of the challenges from the Late Night Stampers this week is to create a project using the colors of your country's flag.  What a great idea!  I think I live in the best country on the planet and I'm very proud to be a Canadian.  I was also very proud of the great job we did hosting the Olympics this year and even had a challenge here if you recall.

Now I couldn't possibly make a card without throwing in a few maple leaves.  So here's what I came up with:

For this card I used Real Red and Shimmer White Card stock... got to have bling, right?  LOL  For the Maple leaves I used a contraband punch... sorry but I can't draw that well!!!  For embellishments I used the Red Corduroy buttons and one of the jumbo Whisper White grommets as well as some Scallop Trim Borders.  I used scraps of designer paper from the Bride  and the Christmas Cocoa Specialty collections.

LATE NIGHT STAMPERS SKETCH CHALLENGE

Good morning all!  Hope you Easter was fantastic!  We won't discuss how much chocolate was consumed if that's alright with you!  I just need to lay aside all that guilt and move on!  LOL

I had an exciting thing happen last week which I had to keep a secret until now....I got chosen as a designer on the Late Night Stampers Yahoo Groupand this is my debut entry!  How exciting is that!  I am both honoured and humbled because believe you me these ladies can stamp!  If you are not familiar with the group it has the best samples out there in cyber space so be sure to look them up and join if you want to belong to a happening stamping group!

The sketch was pretty simple and here is what I came up with:

The paper is from the Holiday Mini 2009 and I just love how it looks distressed.and sponged.  So keeping with that theme I did sponge the butterflies and the tag.  The stamped images on the tag are from the Baroque Motifs stamp set which is one of my all time favourites!  For embellishments I added the Satin Chocolate Chip Ribbon and some pearls from the Pretties Kit which I dyed to match the card.  If you haven't tried that it's easy!  Just leave a comment asking how and I'll send you a little tutorial on it.

INSPIRATION IN ACTION CHALLENGE

Hello everyone!  Happy Easter!   Today I was doing a little peeking around some of my favorite blogs and noticed that Gretchen Barron has a new Inspiration in Action Challenge so I decided to get INSPIRED and put a little ACTION in the CHALLENGE!  LOL

Here is her original sketch:

Here's what I came up with:

I used the designer paper from the Occasions Mini called Shades of Spring, which truly has some beautiful spring colors in it.  The stamp set I used was Baroque Motifs to get the background swirls behind the smaller squares, and the motif and greeting on the Scallop Circle piece.  Of course there had to be pearls to go with the swirls, and a little bit of satin celery ribbon to prissy it up!
