SCRAPBOOK LAYOUT 8'S IN THE GUTTER

On Saturday, I had such a fun day.  I had my Holiday Club in the morning and it such a great group of ladies and we had so much fun!  There was lots of laughing, lots of prizes and even a great challenge for the Christmas in July Class.  Don't worry I'll have more details about that later and you will all get to see the creations and vote on your favorites!

Then in the afternoon I was a presenter at the All Day Crop in Upper Hammonds Plains where I got to meet another group of great ladies and teach them how to do some quick and easy layouts with their scrapbook pages.  I promised them to post all the instructions on-line so for the next few days I'll be featuring these layouts and how simple it is to recreate them.

Today's  double page layout is called 8's in the Gutter and is created with a base of 2- 12 x 12 pieces of Paper, 2- 8-1/2 x 11 pieces of card stock and then another piece of 12 x 12 that is cut in 6 - 4 x 6" mats for your photos.

Here's a sketch of the design that I whipped up on My Digital Studio:

8's in the Gutter-001 You can see the designer 12 x 12 in the background, the red 8-1/2 x 11 piece in the gutter and then the 3 photo mats that measure 4 x 6.

The facing page will just be the mirror image of this design as seen in the next picture, below.

It's very easy to change the looks of these layouts by rotating the whole page to get different layouts.

Another simple way to alter the look is to change up your 4 x 6 photo mats in both orientation and position.

Here is a scrapbook layout that I did of this very simple layout to show you how easy it is to then add your embellishments, titles and a bit of journaling.

Christmas Day

Here are the step by step directions for this layout:

  • Choose 2 matching or co-ordinating designer papers and lay them side by side.
  • Choose 2 - 8-1/2" x 11" pieces of card stock in a nice contrasting color to the original pages and adhere them in the gutters of both pages.
  • Choose another color of 12 x 12" card stock that will contrast with the other colors and cut in in half at 6".  You now have 2 pieces of 12 x 6" of card stock.
  • Stack these pieces together and line them up in your cutter with the long side against the top of the cutter and the left hand edge aligned with 12" mark on the cutter's guide.  Cut the two pieces together at 8" and 4".  You now have 6 photo mats measuring 4 x 6".  Arrange these on your layout as desired and adhere.
  • Crop your photos and add them to the photo mats.
  • Add embellishments, journaling and titles to complete your pages.

Be sure to tune in tomorrow to learn how to do the 5/7 Split Layout.

THURSDAY'S THOUGHTS ON SCRAPBOOKING - SUNNY DAY DIGITAL

Blog Widget by LinkWithin

For today's project I have completed a scrapbook page using My Digital Studio.  It only took me about 15 minutes to complete the entire page,  it's just so easy to use!

Sunny Day Album-001

Here are the items I used from the program:

The Sunny Day Scrapbook Kit which included all the borders, embellishments and papers.  It's just a simple matter of clicking and pasting  each of the embellishments and borders that you see on the page.  The program allows you to place things exactly where you want them.

The other item I used was the Great Moments Stamp Set, one of the many sets included in the program.   I made the title and the kisses and hugs at the bottom of the page.  Too cute!!!

Of course the picture is compliments of my gorgeous grand-daughter Madison.

Don't forget that I will be demonstrating this fantastic new program at my October Open House.  Be sure to book your reservation for this free demo today!  Space is limited so don't delay.

MONDAY'S MARVELOUS PROJECT - MY DIGITAL STUDIO

Blog Widget by LinkWithin

Today I received a box from Stampin' Up! that contained all the Build-A-Bear Workshop products plus My Digital Studio which I have just been playing with for the last 2 hours!  It is totally awesome.  You can create custom projects and projects form templates.  It contains lots of stamp sets, designer papers, even embellishments that come in our exclusive colors and designs.  I had so much fun playing with all the  different options in this great new program.  The software will be available for you to purchase, starting on October 1-2009.

CHRISTMAS JINGLE CARD-001

Here is the first project I created, a Christmas Jingle card and this was done with a pre-designed template.  Check out the scalloped oval frame, the grosgrain ribbon and even brads that you can choose in the colors you desire.  I created this in about 2 minutes!  Very simple but also very cute!  Besides the finished projects you can even create layouts from scratch for both scrapbook pages and cards.  The program is very easy to use and if you are computer savvy at all you will find it effortless to create new projects.  The exciting thing is that you will be able to print the finished products at a professional printers, including calendars, scrapbooks and books that are all professionally bound.  Imagine what you can do with those kind of possibilities!!!

For my second project I did the front cover of a calendar and built it from scratch.  Again I found it very simple to add the different elements in the design.

I have used this picture before in a previous Scrapbook layout but this of course is a completely different look.  Please notice that the following were used in my design and were all available in the "My Digital Studio" program.

  • Picture was chosen from a file on my computer
  • Polka dot paper was Garden Green Designer Paper which comes in all kinds of our colors and different designs in the software
  • Buttons were added from the program... it even allows you to put a shadow around the button to make it look more 3-D like a real scrapbook page.  How cool is that?
  • Ribbon comes already tied in the perfect bow!  I simply chose where I wanted it and added the shadow.
  • The text "2010 Calendar" was created by using a dropper to pick up one of the colors from the actual picture so you get the perfect match for your photos!
  • The flower branches added to the top left and right hand corners is from our stamp set, "Thoughts & Prayers" and I "stamped" them in Crushed Curry to match the buttons and bow.  Here's a neat trick, once you choose a stamped image you have the options to mirror the image or flip them.  That's how I got them going in opposite directions in the upper corners.

I have to say just on the little bit of time I was playing with this program it's a must have.  It is more than worth the price because just the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set alone is $34.95 and their are lots of stamp sets in the program. embellishments, card-stock and designer papers!  It's like having the catalog come to life on your computer!!!  I can't wait to demonstrate this for you at my October Holiday Mini Open House!  If you haven't signed up yet what are you waiting for?
